1. This text invites you and your people to see in the Christ not only the welcome but the inspiration to welcome the other, indeed the enemy, not simply to put up with, but to love.
  2. The Christ of Romans 13:8-14 is the one who is returning to fulfill our salvation even as we wait, living with one another in Christian love.
  3. He is Immanuel, God-with-us, and He is with His Church, very present where His name is, very present where His gifts are, and very present where His people are.
  4. Good works, doing good, is not some sort of value-add bonus to the Christian life. Good works are the natural, organic outgrowth of being grafted into the Body of Christ.
  5. To follow with confidence, to stand firm, to hold the traditions taught by Paul and Silas from the beginning of the Macedonian mission, is nothing more nor less than holding on to the Jesus who was handed over, standing firm on Jesus.
