Promises of God (268)
  1. What does it mean to be a child of God and to carry his image? This is a theological question, but it is a question necessary for our self-understanding
  2. I am often haunted by my past. I am daily haunted by what I should be doing.
  3. A father dies and leaves an inheritance to his two children, Jane and Grace. The family member handling the estate gives them each a letter containing the cheques for their inheritance.
  4. I hate driving. I am more of a “pew-pew” guy than a “vroom-vroom” guy. I battle my own heart every day in Atlanta traffic.
  5. Whenever I read the Genesis account of Abraham, I’m more impressed that he’s often a clumsy, mess of a man than that it’s “faith that’s accounted to him as righteousness.”
  6. I cannot recall how many times I sang along to this theme song, punching and kicking as a kid in the 80s. But much of my desire to join the Marine Corps had its genesis in the 80s cartoon “G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero.”
  7. When God adds His promise to creation, we understand a greater reality than what we see: Light given; Light that sustains life; Light that will end up living in the midst of his people forever.
  8. Blessedness comes to us camouflaged as simple earthly words, water, bread and wine.
  9. The promise is trustworthy because God has proven Himself to be trustworthy.
  10. God’s justification of us does not happen secretly in our spirits. God justifies you and me in His absolving Word
  11. We were created by our heavenly Father to receive all things from Him as free gift.
  12. She heard it before, but looking around she struggles to see how it matters.
