Palm Sunday (47)
  1. He chooses to become least, to go down, to become nothing, to empty Himself, to humble Himself, to become obedient even to the point of death, the death of a cross. That is the mind of Christ.
  2. What does it mean to listen to Jesus? What does it mean to follow Him as He suffers?
  3. Of all Sundays, this one does not stand on its own. Use this Sunday as a launching point for the week that looms ahead.
  4. The will of God may be perfect, but it is not always pleasant.
  5. He does what is central to God’s own essence: Jesus lives out the self-giving nature of God.
  6. God could kill or make alive, or He could wound or heal. Mercifully and thankfully His choice was life.
  7. Every earthly kingdom meets its end. All empires crumble and fall. But from the beginning, the kingdom of God, which Christ would rule, was said to be eternal.
  8. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steve Paulson discuss Luke's account of Christ's prayer in Gethsemane.
  9. He represents our likeness, fulfills it, and so has the prerogative to reproduce his likeness in us.
