  1. It is shocking to hear this word from both these readings, but it is meant to shock us to life, to wake us from the slumber of complacency, to see Christ in our neighbor.
  2. In this passage Jeremiah is enthusiastically praising God, then cursing the day he was born, then speaking as a warrior, then speaking fearfully.
  3. So, you have God’s generosity on the one hand and the greed of the elite on the other. Which would you rather have? Unjust scales or a scale breaking generous God?
