New Testament (1741)
  1. There is no problem with Christians developing different practices, cultural traditions, and the like. The problem arises when these become the badge of belonging, when they become the badge of righteousness.
  2. Peter asks the kind of question asked by those who keep records, who keep score. Which reminds me that we are a score-keeping people.
  3. Jesus is showing the disciples that humility is not only about how we present ourselves before God. It also has to do with our love and service to the least among us.
  4. Christians are called to love even amid imperfect institutions, imperfect marriages and families, imperfect churches and congregations, and called to love even in our clunky and imperfect society.
  5. Paul is not telling Christians to go searching for extraordinary opportunities to demonstrate holiness. Instead, he fills the ordinary relationships God has already assigned with extraordinary mercy.
  6. The reign of Christ is cruciform. Jesus ushers in His reign through a cross. His reign is spread by those who follow Him bearing a cross.
  7. The Close of Colossians
  8. Identity is a gift from God given in Christ Jesus that forms our life as God’s people, that is, His Church.
