New Testament (1624)
  1. Jesus’ story continues as He writes us into it, giving us the Holy Spirit to continue to spread the forgiveness of sins in the proclamation of the Gospel.
  2. Easter moves, Easter grows, Easter is transitive. It affects objects, it changes people, it does stuff.
  3. The empty tomb. The risen Christ. Satan’s defeat. Forgiveness of sins. The beginning of the new creation. It has all built up to this. It all flows from this. Christ is risen, indeed! Alleluia!
  4. All will see His coming. All will see you in your appearance with Him. Until then, hear Him: Christ is dead and risen. Hear Him about you too: You are dead, and you too are risen in Him.
  5. He chooses to become least, to go down, to become nothing, to empty Himself, to humble Himself, to become obedient even to the point of death, the death of a cross. That is the mind of Christ.
  6. Of all Sundays, this one does not stand on its own. Use this Sunday as a launching point for the week that looms ahead.
  7. At the Supper Christ established on Maundy Thursday, you receive the fruits of that sacrifice: his body and blood given for you.
  8. Christ’s throne is the cross: Crowned with thorns, robed in mockery, surrounded by criminals.
  9. Paul the Law Hater?
  10. Location determines reality, and when you are in Christ, you do not have less condemnation, or delayed condemnation. You just have none.
