New Testament (1636)
  1. Daniel and Erick are recording live from The Belmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas!
  2. We would expect Jesus to be delighted people have responded to the master’s invitation. Instead, Jesus asks these people to reconsider whether they should be following Him or not.
  3. Daniel and Erick start Paul’s letter to the Philippians in this episode. To live is Christ, to die is gain, and some suffering is a gift.
  4. The question that this text poses for us today is “What does it mean to believe in the resurrection?”
  5. Daniel and Erick wrap up 2nd Peter. Jesus seems to be taking His time coming again. Why does God’s “soon” take so long?
  6. Luke does not tell us who asked it. But it’s a good question. “Lord, will those who are saved be few?”
  7. Peter freaks out on false teachers but argues that the atonement is for the very worst of heretics.
  8. Daniel and Erick begin 2 Peter in this episode. They spend some time discussing some of the controversy around this book and how to engage with it.
  9. Daniel and Erick wrap up the 1 Peter in this episode. There is some discussion about ecclesiology and why Peter calls himself an elder.
  10. Indeed, baptism is life because resurrection is life. Nothing short of regeneration—renewal of life—is accomplished by God through sheer grace because of Christ Jesus.
  11. Jesus names what life does not consist of, and in doing so he gets to something near and dear to our hearts as Americans—our possessions.
  12. Believers are reminded—and the preacher is to remind them—baptism marks the forgiveness of sins, the end of legal demands, justification and regeneration, and the ultimate triumph over rulers and powers.
