Lectionary: Series A (682)
  1. The parable makes obvious what is rarely apparent: God is the absolute Lord of all, and human rebellion is both wicked and futile.
  2. It was the death of David’s greater son who would die for his sin and our sin in order that we might know the mercy of God to cover all our sin and sour grapes.
  3. Paul had no credit because the Law could not atone for his sin. It could not render him positively righteous before the face of God, even though it gave him boasting rights before the Law.
  4. On this episode of Preaching the Text, John Hoyum and Steve Paulson discuss the parable of the master and the vineyard.
  5. Both God and Ezekiel agree that the people are sinful, and God’s greatness is displayed in His mercy.
  6. This is what faith holds on to, which, despite appearances, transforms us more and more into the likeness of Christ.
  7. To manipulate God with our questions is, ultimately, to try and get ourselves off the hook and/or God off the throne.
