Gospel (976)
  1. The story of salvation is the true story of God doing his unexpected work of salvation for us.
  2. God has made us as embodied creatures with eyes, ears, reason, and all our senses and emotions. We preach Christ to whole people, real people, in real time.
  3. Easter is the most important Sunday because Christ is risen, death is defeated, and all of God’s promises find their fulfillment in Jesus.
  4. Here on Palm Sunday in the Gospel according to John, we see several groups of people in progress. Some have seen more signs than others. None of them really get it.
  5. Preaching the intensities of Lent and Holy Week’s gospel pericopes means dispensing with romanticized interpretations and allowing the texts to self-present, be they ever so uncomfortable or forceful.
  6. Past, present, and future are tied together in Christ.
  7. This week’s text invites us to walk alongside a grieving sister. The connection to your hearers will be easy, for life in this world provides no shortage of reasons to grieve.
  8. My fear of this coming darkness only lasts a moment.
  9. This man lived his entire life in the darkness, that is, until he met Jesus.
