New Testament (1704)
  1. The revelation of Jesus Christ.
  2. The Earth itself, into which the blood of Christ seeped, will be redeemed and renewed, just like our spirits in Holy Baptism, and our bodies on the day of the resurrection.
  3. When we are not running ahead of Jesus, we might be in a better position to see Jesus: Crucified and risen for sinners, among whom I am the chief.
  4. The conclusion of James.
  5. The same Word which stepped out of eternity into created time in order to speak light and life into creation when all was void and formless, that same Word still speaks.
  6. The more the Christian imagines the Law of God provides a way to life (that is, by obeying God’s commands we can run clear of death), the more distant from life in the Spirit he becomes.
  7. We cannot use Jesus to defeat our problems, but as Jesus embraces us, we discover (almost incidentally) we have been relieved of our burdens.
  8. There is now a new Lord, and it is not sin, death, or anything else. It is Jesus.
