New Testament (1673)
  1. The more the Christian imagines the Law of God provides a way to life (that is, by obeying God’s commands we can run clear of death), the more distant from life in the Spirit he becomes.
  2. We cannot use Jesus to defeat our problems, but as Jesus embraces us, we discover (almost incidentally) we have been relieved of our burdens.
  3. There is now a new Lord, and it is not sin, death, or anything else. It is Jesus.
  4. Murdering the righteous.
  5. This self-effacing God delights in showering His favor upon those of low estate. He lifts up the humble, reaches out to the downtrodden, welcomes the outcast, and befriends the foreigner.
  6. Paul asserts the baptized have died in Christ but this death then makes them free to live unto Christ. Complicated? Yes, a little. Let us try to clarify things a bit.
