Lectionary: Series C (32)
  1. Those who trust in the Lord are not anxious when drought comes because they have the roots that run deep from the tree into which they have been transplanted.
  2. God’s holiness is both law and gospel. His holiness not only threatens sinners, but it also makes them holy by the forgiveness of sins.
  3. Jeremiah is purely passive in our passage and only receiving. This is the perfect spot to be in when you are receiving God’s Word.
  4. For those who have wandered away from the community of the faithful, coming back can be filled with both fear and joy, both shame and redemption. Our text for today is no exception.
  5. It was the Lord’s delight to crush the Messiah Jesus for the sinners of the world. Reminding us how we would have nothing without the Suffering Servant.
  6. The Christ brings a baptism in order to gather all those sinners who are scattered across time and geography to be God’s people united in redemption and salvation.
  7. Solomon prays for grace, and he gets it, and it is not because he asked for it. It is because that is the kind of God he has, a gracious God, full of steadfast love and faithfulness even when we are not.
  8. God has the power to deliver His will, and He has done this for us in the grand exchange of a firstborn son on our behalf.
  9. This Advent, waiting gives birth to God’s Christmas love.
  10. In the season of Advent, we speak of a present-day hope that we have in God through the work of the Holy Spirit to create and sustain faith in us through the Word and Sacraments.
  11. God Himself has shown us how He will prepare us for the day of His coming. He will refine us and purify us through Christ.
  12. In Jeremiah you cannot have comfort and consolation without a clear understanding of judgement.
