Lectionary: Series A (610)
  1. That Jesus rose from the dead is surprising, but he doesn’t stop there. Jesus is constantly surprising us! He keeps showing up in the most surprising of places!
  2. Christ’s blood is imperishable. So are you! Death could not keep Him down, and you are born of the same stuff, the blood that has been delivered to you in the Word, the good news.
  3. What were the “many other words” and how did he “continue to exhort them"? I want to know the details but, perhaps, that is not the point.
  4. Jesus’ story continues as He writes us into it, giving us the Holy Spirit to continue to spread the forgiveness of sins in the proclamation of the Gospel.
  5. Easter moves, Easter grows, Easter is transitive. It affects objects, it changes people, it does stuff.
  6. God would raise Jesus from the dead. That’s the message that sounded crazy. That’s what made the council believe that the church was filled with madmen.
  7. The empty tomb. The risen Christ. Satan’s defeat. Forgiveness of sins. The beginning of the new creation. It has all built up to this. It all flows from this. Christ is risen, indeed! Alleluia!
  8. All will see His coming. All will see you in your appearance with Him. Until then, hear Him: Christ is dead and risen. Hear Him about you too: You are dead, and you too are risen in Him.
  9. Jesus is alive! The message will and must always be that Jesus died and rose again. That is the full good news we need.
