  1. While I was still an over-eager seminarian the professor warned me, “Mr. Riley, this is exciting stuff.
  2. Faith does not distinguish between worthy and unworthy, saint and sinner, great faith and anemic faith, it only focuses on Christ Jesus.
  3. I’m going to begin at the beginning. But which one? Birth? Kindergarten? My first drink? The first time I had sex?
  4. For God, the only way He acts as Judge and Justifier for us is through Christ Jesus Who dies for sinners.
  5. Jesus’ life and work is now ours through faith.
  6. We demand that our Creator defend His judgment and justification of sinners in a courtroom where we are judge, prosecuting attorney, and jury.
  7. Jesus is the "because" and "therefore" of our salvation because He died for our sin
  8. We focus on what we have, what we don't have, and how and when God is going to give us what we need. This the opposite of faith.
  9. What do we do when Christians are more focused on their doing for God than God's doing for them?
  10. If it's not Christ Jesus "for you" they're not delivering the Gospel to you.
  11. When our sense of alienation from God is underscored and exaggerated by daily life we behave like tropical fish when their tank is cleaned.
  12. Christians argue about who's in charge of who, who's going to run things, who is the authority and who are the leaders that tell us on behalf of Jesus what to do next.
