Comfort (188)
  1. When it comes to God’s word, our help only obscures his power and grace.
  2. Before you object that what we need is change - not salvation - let me remind you that our shouts for change are evidence of our need for a savior.
  3. Is there anything abiding, anything long-lasting that can inspire us to hope again?
  4. We are meant to serve in love both our neighbor in need as well as the neighbor who doesn’t think they need us.
  5. What we can learn from all these instances is that we are all born into this world with a pre-existing condition. It’s called mortality, and no earthly authority or expert can save us from it.
  6. The Pastoral Prophet: Meditations on the Book of Jeremiah written by Steve Kruschel is available for preorder through 1517 Publishing. The following is an excerpt.
  7. Jesus’s followers aren’t ostriches who bury their heads in the sand. That’s not helpful or hopeful for anyone. Resting from life’s trials and troubles comes in the remembrance of the One who is with you in the middle of all of them.
  8. When we are invited to cast all our cares on God's shoulders, he means all of them — every single one of them.
  9. I love the liturgy of my church, and ache for its full return. When all the world is changing, and everything is disrupted, what comes to mind is what is unchanging: the grace of God.

  11. When our friends are suffering, how should we comfort them? Craig and Troy discuss things NOT to say, and in the end discover just Who was sent to comfort us, and how He does it.
  12. Even when God doesn’t take away the troubled waters of our life, he is the Bridge we can lean on no matter what storms may come our way.
