Inexhaustible Grace for Exhausted Women

Moms, your worth is not determined by what present you get on Mother’s Day. Everything that is true about you was said on the cross thousands of years ago.

Moms, your worth is not determined by what present you get on Mother’s Day. Everything that is true about you was said on the cross thousands of years ago. You are wicked enough to need a Rescuer and loved enough to have one. A present from your family will never compare to what you have already been given.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” (John 3:16-17)

Moms with little ones who feel like they can’t make it another day, you are known. In every lonely afternoon, and every diaper change, and every late night feeding, He is right by your side. He is leading you. He is carrying you. He loves you.

“He tends his flock like a shepherd: He gathers the lambs in his arms and carries them close to his heart; he gently leads those that have young.” (Isaiah 40:11)

Post-abortive woman, God is not angry at you. If you are in Christ you are completely forgiven and completely accepted. He is actually rejoicing over you with singing. One day you will be reunited with your baby, and in that place there will be no more tears no more sadness and no more regret.

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.” (Psalm 103:11-12)

Infertile woman, you are not being punished for some sin. You are not less of a woman because you can’t bear children. He gives you a home. He knows the pain you feel and His love will sustain you until the end.

“I will comfort them, and give them gladness for sorrow.” (Jeremiah 31:13)

Single woman, you are not worthless because you aren’t married and don’t have children. Your identity is not who you are surrounded by. Your identity is a loved daughter of the King; just like all the married women, just like all the women with children. You are needed in the church, desperately.

“you shall be called My Delight Is In Her, and your land Married, for the Lord delights in you.” (Isaiah 62:4)

Single moms, thank you for all that you do for your families. You may feel as though you are completely by yourself in your everyday activities, but you have one who is watching you and caring for you. You are loved immeasurable. Christ Himself will sustain you as he cared for his mom after his father died. He will take care of you until the end just as he took care of her.

“When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, ‘Woman, behold, your son!’ Then he said to the disciple, ‘Behold, your mother!’ And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.” (John 19:26)

Mom with a wayward child, He sees you. He knows your broken heart. If there ever was anybody that understands His children walking away from Him it is our Father. Don’t give up hope. The thief on the cross was saved in the last minutes of his life with the utterance, “remember me.”

“And he said, ‘Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.’ And he said to him, ‘Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.’” (Luke 23:42-43)

Mom with children waiting for you in heaven. God knows what it is like to have a child die. He felt that pain when Christ died on the cross. He is El Roi, the God who sees. Your suffering isn’t wasted He will be the one to comfort you and wipe every tear from your eyes.

“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)

Mom whose children won’t talk to her, Christ is sympathizing with you at this very moment. He understands what it is like to be denied and betrayed. He loves you and is praying right this moment that your faith won’t fail.

“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:15-16)

Woman whose mother has died. You are not alone in your sadness. Christ Himself understands what it is like to lose a parent. He sees you and feels the pain you feel. You don’t grieve as one who has no hope. You grieve as one who is held by her Heavenly Father.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. ‘He will not leave you or forsake you.’” (Deuteronomy 31:6)

Woman whose mother won’t talk to her, all of the love and acceptance that you long for from your mother is found in Christ. He loves you and welcomes you home. Find your joy in him.

“I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you.” (Jeremiah 31:3)
