He Does it For Love

Reading Time: 2 mins

He always puts our life and salvation first. He’ll never accept our defeat. He’ll never quit on us. He’ll never leave us fallen and alone.

Why does Jesus do it? Why sacrifice His life so we can live? Love: He does it for love. He overcomes our fear of God, judgment, and death by love. Jesus on the cross is a shield that protects us from God's judgment and death. He does this for us.

Jesus' courage and love lead us to the cross. There we'll see the true meaning of love: selflessness. His life sacrificed so we can live. But, how can He do this for the religious who call him a demon prince? Why die for people who treat Him as an enemy? What made Him decide to swap Godly authority and power for torture, execution, and damnation? Selfless love.

Jesus' love for us puts Him through hell. But the power of His resurrection pushes Him to join us and to tell us we're brothers in arms now. His drive is to serve us. He gets us back on track when we get lost. He strengthens us to stand up when we collapse. He always puts our life and salvation first. He'll never accept our defeat. He'll never quit on us. He'll never leave us fallen and alone.

He always puts our life and salvation first. He’ll never accept our defeat. He’ll never quit on us. He’ll never leave us fallen and alone.

That doesn't mean we're not going to mutiny against His love. We get worn out and become hopeless. We want the stuff He doesn't offer us. But, the scars on His body were for us. He's bled for us. He's endured more for us than we can imagine.

So we can reject what Jesus offers to us. We can try to go it alone on our strength. We can rebel against His love for us. He'll suffer us to reject Him. That's the meaning of "unconditional love." God suffers Himself to be rejected by us.

But, He forgives our weakness, willfulness, and spiritual poverty. He'll lead us forward. He'll be our shield that protects us from His own judgment and our death. That's the difference between Jesus and us. He accepts full responsibility for us. He defends us, even sacrificing His life to protect us from sin, death, and hell.

That’s why He sacrifices His life so we can struggle and live, and hope for life eternal. He does it for love. He does it for us.

Jesus is our wisdom, courage, and judgment. His words turn our stony heart to a heart of flesh. His body and blood strengthen us to think clearly and boldly and to stand firm in faith. His Baptismal promises give us hope, that no matter how horrible the struggle, He'll never fail us.

That's why Jesus does it. That's why He sacrifices His life so we can struggle and live, and hope for life eternal. He does it for love. He does it for us. If we know nothing else about God, we know this for certain: Jesus' love is selfless. He always puts our life and salvation first. He'll never accept our defeat. He'll never quit on us. He'll never leave us fallen and alone.
