Catching Jesus' Ear

Reading Time: 1 min

As a parent listens for the cry of a hurting child, our heavenly Father waits for our cry of weal and woe.

The Lord said, "Before they call, I will answer, and while they are still speaking, I will hear" (Isa 65:24). This is God's promise to hear his people. Their cries of fear and anxiety will pierce through the heavens to the ears of God. As the Lord God listens, there is always hope when we struggle through trials and hardship.

God is constant. He is Everlasting God the Father, Almighty Creator of heaven and earth. He does not change. His promises last forever. As many as our enemies may be, they are not gods. They are not the true God. They can surround us, strike us down, and celebrate our death, but they cannot kill God's promise to hear and answer us. He will always help us in times of trouble. He will deliver us from our enemies.

By his name, he saves us. By his strength, we are vindicated. He hears the words from our mouths. Enemies may rise up to oppose us, but God will strike them down.

That's why we are called to always be in prayer. We are called by our heavenly Father to pray without ceasing and call on the name of the Lord. He gives us strength for the battles of life. His word will be our shield and weapon against the evil foe. When our enemies - Satan, the world, and our flesh - fight against us day after day to destroy us, our cries to the Lord are heard. He will pierce them and cause them to fall.

As a parent listens for the cry of a hurting child, our heavenly Father waits for our cry of weal and woe. He will grab us up and embrace us in his redemptive care. The Father promises, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest" (Matt 11:28).

Our Lord and God, the Savior of all who cry out for him, can pierce the enemies that cause us to suffer temptation and sin. Through Jesus' suffering death at the hands of his enemies, he has delivered us from our enemies. By his resurrection from the dead, he can hear our cries for deliverance. Nothing we pray ever fails to catch Jesus' ear.
